HOW TO LAYER YOUR SKINCARE

It’s Shikya here writing to help you get the best results from your skincare routine by showing you how to layer your at-home products properly. Think of it like building a strong house – each layer plays a vital role in creating a solid structure.

Here’s a simple, step-by-step guide:

1. Start with a Clean Slate

Cleanser: Wash your face with a gentle cleanser. This sets the stage for the rest of your products to work effectively. We recommend double cleansing, as the first cleanse removes the dirt, oil and makeup, and the second cleanse cleans your bare skin.

My personal favourite is the iS Cleansing Complex. This cleanser gives your skin a deep, powerful clean, yet it’s gentle enough for sensitive skin!

2.Eye Cream is Essential

Eye Cream: The skin around your eyes is delicate and needs special care, so using your stronger serums for your face such as a vitamin C on the eye area will be too strong for that skin. Using an eye cream can help you target that area without causing damage. By applying your eye cream under the following serums, you’re protecting that area as well as getting the best benefit from the product.

My favourite is the iS Clinical Youth Eye Complex. It’s a beautiful soft cream texture that hydrates, brightens and tightens the skin giving it a youthful appearance.

3.Tone it Up

Toner: Apply a toner to balance your skin’s pH levels and prepare it for the upcoming products. Toners can also help to tighten pores and remove any leftover impurities. Toner isn’t an imperative step but for people looking for something extra.

My favourite is the

4.Treat Your Skin

Serums: These are your power-packed products that target specific skin concerns like wrinkles, dullness, or dehydration. When layering serums, you want to apply your water-based serums first, such as your hyaluronic acid, and then your oil-based serums. Just think, water can’t penetrate oil. So to get the best result from your serums, this is vital!

A fan favourite serum of ours is the iS Clinical Hydra-cool Serum. This serum is great for every skin type and will keep it deeply hydrated and healthy all year round.

5.Vitamin A

  • Vitamin A, commonly known as Retinol, is youth in a bottle! You can layer this product on top of your serums as a part of your nighttime routine- never use it in the morning as it can cause sun damage to your skin. Retinols are only recommended to use if you’re in your 20’s or older.

Tip: Vitamin C and Vitamin A commonly don’t like each other, so we recommend using your Vitamin C in the mornings, and Vitamin A in the evenings.

My absolute favourite is the iS Clinical Retinol+ Emulsion. This product is literally youth in a bottle and will give you flawless skin!

6.Lock in Moisture

Moisturiser: This is your main hydration step. Moisturiser helps to seal in all the previous layers and keep your skin plump and hydrated. Choose a formula suited to your skin type – gel for oily skin, cream for dry skin.

The absolute best is the iS Clinical Reparative Emulsion. Anyone who uses it knows just how luxurious it feels, and it’s the most perfect consistency!

7.Sunscreen – Your Best Friend

Sunscreen: During the day, always finish with a good sunscreen. It protects your skin from harmful UV rays, preventing premature ageing and sun damage. Sunscreen should be the last step in your morning routine.

Of course, Extreme Protect from iS Clinical is another top favourite here. Not only is it a beautiful SPF and moisturiser in one, but it also contains powerful ingredients to further protect your DNA.

Additional Tips:

Exfoliate: 1-2 times a week, use an exfoliator to remove dead skin cells. This helps your products absorb better and keeps your skin smooth.

Masks: Treat yourself to a mask once a week. Depending on your skin’s needs, you can choose hydrating, purifying, or brightening masks.

Order Matters

Apply products from thinnest to thickest. Light, watery products like toners and serums go first, while heavier creams and oils come later.

Be Patient

Give each product a minute or so to absorb before moving on to the next step. This ensures that your skin gets the maximum benefit from each layer.

Listen to Your Skin

Your skin’s needs can change with the seasons, your diet, or your stress levels. Pay attention to how your skin reacts and adjust your routine as needed.

By following these steps, you’ll create a skincare routine that helps you achieve glowing, healthy skin. Remember, consistency is key. Stick to your routine, and over time, you’ll see the amazing benefits of layering your skincare correctly.
